So! I have decided that I want to have a journal devoted specifically to Transformers fanfics that I write. Why? Well, mostly to keep this stuff off of people's friends pages unless they specifically want it to be there. I'm going in some...odd...directions lately, and I don't want people to be offended and/or have to put up with stuff on their friends list that they're really not interested in seeing. Plus, this is more organized and may possibly help me to keep some things straight in my own head.

Here's the dealy-bob: If you like my Transformers fics and want to keep abreast of them, you'll want to friend this journal, because this is where they'll be going from now on. If you don't really care about the other stuff I talk about and only want to see my fics, then friend this journal and feel free to de-friend/not friend the other one. (I won't feel insulted if you de-friend. I promise.) If you just want the blather, then don't friend this one. If you want both my writings and my blather, then friend both. If you want neither...Well, go away. ;)

ANYWAY...I thought I'd use this initial "stickied" post as a master list of my writings, broken out by category. Just to keep things *gulp* organized. It'll be updated each time I put something new in here. Slash stories are marked with an asterisk on this list so that you may avoid them if you no likey slash. When you click a link, it will take you to the journal entry (or entries) containing that story. Mind the ratings/warnings on them when you get there, if you're squeamish about certain things. Like robosex.

So, here we go:

One-Shot Stand-Alones
  • Encounter: There's one Autobot Thundercracker can't kill.
  • Tower: Not even Fireflight himself knows how the hell he gets into these messes...
  • Hug*: Jazz needs one. Which of course means that Prowl will choose to be a bastard.
  • Distraction*Jazz is dangerous when bored. Poor Prowl.
  • Gravity*When Thundercracker met Skywarp.
  • Best Laid Plans: Hilarity ensues on a road trip. It's all totally Wheeljack's fault.
  • The High Road: Thundercracker's Really Bad Day(TM) Another pretty darn oldie. Partly written while on my honeymoon. *snort* Which would make it 1994.
  • Death's LessonsRatchet's Really Bad Day(TM). And wow, it's the oldest story here. Originally written in 1986 or so. Whee.
  • OutcastBlitzwing angsts. Then dies. Seriously!
  • He Who Laughs LastSkywarp thinks he's absolutely brilliant. Skywarp is absolutely wrong.
  • Monkey: Sideswipe and Sunstreaker, Nightwind style. Features not-fanon Lambos and is dark and nasty because that's the way I like Sunstreaker...even though I don't like Sunstreaker... Yeah, that makes sense...
  • Birds Of A Feather: A sequel of sorts to "Monkey" (So I suppose both of these need to come off this list now and put somewhere else, but...meh) in which our intrepid Sideswipe discovers that he's not quite so friendless as he might think...

"Redemption" Series
Epic slashy Starscream/Skyfire mush with bonus moments of weird and dark. Co-written with my dearest roommate/best bud, frostymook, who is way better at dark than I am, really. Unfortunately, Frosty has pretty much retired from the fandom and from online life in general for various personal reasons that have arisen in her life. Soooooo...I don't know what the future of this continuity is. If it is to continue, I will have to write it all myself, and quite honestly I haven't decided whether or not I want to do that. So, this might be all there ever is. Or, there might be more at some point. We'll see...

  • Insontis*: Geeks In Lurve. Pre-war, obviously.
  • Redemption*: It's big. It's angsty. It's...on Fanfiction.net because even I am not enough of a masochist to want to repost this behemoth here...
  • Aftermath*: Tying up some loose ends left over from "Redemption" and putting other things in motion, just in case I decide to write more.

"What Goes Around" Series
AKA "Nightwind's Fun-for-Nightwind-But-Maybe-Not-For-Anyone-Else CrackVerse." If you choose to read this at all, you will definitely want to read the prologue of the first story or else absolutely everything else will make absolutely no sense whatsoever.

  • What Goes Around: Swoop grows up; Starscream pays the price. And Megatron learns the very hard way not to piss Swoop off. No good can come of this. At all.

The Sunfall Chronicles
Yeeeeeah. Human-turned-Autobot gets to get it on with Prowl. This is not wish fulfillment AT ALL! *cough* The ones listed after "Confessional" on this list have dates on them because they, like any others that I write, are random vignettes that occur to me. I will put them in chronological order on the list.

  • Remembrance: Prowl angsts. Hey, it's not something you see every day...
  • The Little Things: Sunfall angsts. Unfortunately, this is not at all uncommon...
  • Confessional: Sunfall freaks out. People hang out in confessionals closets. Smooching happens. Not necessarily in that order.
  • Christmas Cheer: It's Christmas, and Sunfall is depressed. Prowl cheers her up. Mistletoe is involved. And booze.
  • The Good Stuff: Sunfall gets high, courtesy of Ratchet. And Soundwave.
  • Paths: Displeased Prowl is displeased. With Jazz. With Sunfall. With the universe in general.

Messing With Little Dinobot Minds
Nightwind is just a teeny-tiny, itty-bitty little bit stark-raving-loony about obsessed with in love with the Dinobots.

  • Vigil: Swoop goes all mostly-dead. Optimus Prime has a nervous breakdown. Slag climbs rocks and has a dorky epiphany. God, this thing needs a major rewrite in most places. What the hell was I THINKING?! Oh, right. I was like 25-ish when I wrote it. Explains much. ;)
  • Art in Me: Beware Dinobots bearing laser scalpels. Because when they bear laser scalpels, things go all...pretty?
  • Lexicon: Snarl reads. MAJOR EXCITEMENT! But at least Sludge is there to be adorable...
  • Crosses to Bear: Swoop to the rescue! Folks freeze their butts off! Ratchet has panic attacks! Optimus...cuddles?
  • Gambit: Slag and Prowl play chess. Slag loses. BUT! He gets to quote The Art of War, so all is not lost.
  • Dazed & Confused*: Mmmmmm, Dino-lovin's. You know you want it. Angst follows the lovin', of course...
  • 100 Dinobots Challenge: Yes, 100 Dinobot stories. Kill me now. Link goes to the entry with my master list of prompts, which subsequently has links to the stories finished to date.

WIPs/Random Snippets
Stuff that may or may not see continuation/completion within the next twenty years. Also, some silliness that might be fun if you are weird enough.

  • For Science! : Well, that's its working title, anyway. :) A story about the creation of the Dinobots, but it shouldn't be considered part of my Dinobot continuity because it monkeys with stuff and things. It's in progress. Will be finished soon.
  • The Path of Least Resistance: The story of Barricade (and Frenzy) just prior to and during the events of the 2007 movie. Totally not canon-compliant, except where it pertains to the movie itself. So there. :p Story is not dead. It's just pining for the fjords. I will return to it one of these days if I can ever get over the utter Dinobot obsession, and when I do it will likely be [info]antepathy 's fault. Blame her.
  • Unrest for the Weary: An attempt to rewrite a very old and bad story of mine, in an effort to make it...well, less bad at least. The effort is stalled but is not dead.
  • My Life as a Woman: Some ten years ago, I took an abortive stab at the whole humanized TF thang. I'm storing some bits that I actually completed here. I don't plan on doing anything else with this, though.
  • Autobot KITT*: Oh, come ON! You know Kitt belongs with them, not with The Hoff! This probably won't be continued, but then again you never know... Note: This is slash because of Prowl/Jazz, who take the li'l guy under their (door)wings and go all parental-esque on him, not because of anything untoward that happens to poor wittle Kitt... ;)
So, I decided that I wanted to do a "Fanfic 100" challenge thingy for the Dinobots, thinking that resolving to do so was the easiest and surest way to chase them out of my brain.

Hah! HAH! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

It just made them worse. Yippee. :|

BUT! I do not really like the prompts of the "official" challenge in a Transformers context, so I visited a few prompt generators online and came up with a list of 100 of my own, none of which require odd contortions in order to make them fit well/easily with Giant Alien Robots. Then I decided to take it one step farther and, using a die, assigned an individual Dinobot (or all five of them, if I rolled a 6) to each prompt, just to make things even more random. The stories will have various genres and various ratings/warnings. Please heed them, if you harbor squickiness about...well, anything, really.

My original goal was to keep each of these to 1,000 words or less, but I've already broken that so...meh. I guess they'll be as long or as short as they'll need to be.

This entry will track my progress, containing links to stories as I finish them. My plan at the moment is that all of these stories will take place, in chronological terms, after all the other Dinobot stories I've written, most of which serve to illuminate the Dinos as I see them, taken to a level of detail not seen in the canon material. Thus they are, not even technically, "non-canon." As such, in order to understand these fics, you will need to have read all of those other stories. Sorry. You also need to understand that the only canon I acknowledge is the original G1 cartoon. None of the comics. MOAR SORRIES!

So, my list, with links to stories completed to date:Collapse )

100 Dinobots: Pet

Oh, heck, I'll stick this one up here, too, while I'm at it...

Prompt: Pet
Required Character(s):
Grimlock
Other Featured Character(s):
Optimus Prime
Rating:
G/K
Warnings:
A determined Tyro and an exasperated Peterbilt. They're always a fun pair, yes? Also, Extremely! Cute! Babies!
Genre: I don't know, really…Literally, fluff with a bit of bite, maybe?
Word Count (Not including this intro):
1,180
Notes:
Much like Snarl, Grimlock, to me, is an extremely complex character with many intriguing facets to his personality to explore. Partly, this is why it's been difficult for me to write a story about him, as I have for each of the other Dinobots; it's hard to decide upon and then focus on just one aspect of him for storytelling purposes. But then, in thinking about him the other day, I realized that every one of the quirks and attributes that I have assigned to him over the years – and there are a lot of them – are pretty much all anchored in one, big, overriding quality: Protectiveness. I've kind of known this all along, but for some reason it just became really clear to me in an epiphany-like, message-from-God kind of way just the other day, and it's given a new lease on life to the story for him that I've been poking at off and on for, literally, a decade or so.

But in the meantime, this little thing came out. So, consider it a preview, of a sort, just a tiny little peek at one tiny little aspect of "my" Grimlock's character…

'You've always told us,' Grimlock rumbled reasonably at Optimus Prime, 'that we should protect this planet's lifeforms.'Collapse )

Birds Of A Feather

Yes, I am alive...sort of. I've been mostly in hiding, occasionally posting stuff to FF.net. (Actually, I've posted quite a lot of stuff there, lately, but...yeah.) I just...haven't quite gotten into the mood to launch myself back into LJ. But I guess posting this in this journal can be considered sticking my foot in the door. Hopefully I'll be back soon...until the next crisis bonks me in the head. In the meantime...

And no, I STILL DON'T HAVE A LAMBO ICON! Or a Tracks one, even...

Title: Birds Of A Feather
Rating: PG-13/T, conservatively
Warnings: Some language that wouldn't shock your average 3rd-grader, these days. References to Dark Deeds(TM)
Main Characters: Sideswipe and Tracks
Genre: Dunno. It's just two folks jawin' at each other.
Summary: Sideswipe has friends in low places.
Notes: This is a "sequel" to "Monkey." A few of its lines thwacked me in the head at 3AM today, and I got up to write them down. And then I wrote...all of this. There may be more lurking in my brain somewhere...or this may be all there ever is. Depends on what my brain does. NOT Romantic/Gothic in tone, like "Monkey" is...which may or may not be a good thing, depending on your viewpoint. Anyway....

It was a surprise when a shadow fell across Sideswipe, indicating someone's presence close-by; it was nothing less than a shock when that "someone" chose to sit down in the chair across from him.Collapse )

Monkey, Fifth of Five

Yay, it's done! :D And still no Lambo icon. I'll get to it, I swear!

Title: Monkey
Status: Finished! :D
Rating: T/PG-13
Warnings: Darkness. A bit of psychological horror of a sort. Decidedly NON-FANON Lambo twins. These are my "twins," and if you are in love with the stupid, pranking, fanon Twins, you will likely hate what I've done with them. Just sayin'.
Main Characters: Sideswipe and Sunstreaker...although Sunstreaker's not in this part, but Ratchet is.
Genre: Darkness. Angstness.
Summary:
Without him, I am nothing. Without me, he is a monster.

I was floating in a void.Collapse )

Monkey, Four of Five

Yep, STILL no Lambo icon. And apologies for this taking so long. There've been some personal issues in my life and THEN my laptop decided to have issues. So, for the moment, I'm stuck using the library's computers. Yay. ANYWAY...

Working Title: For Science!

So, for those of you who don't watch my other journal, I was quite ill for most of the month of April. Didn't get anything done. I'm trying to get back into the groove, so I thought I'd post up a "little" preview of a story that I'm working on. It requires a bit of explanation.

Ever wondered where the Dinobots came from. Especially given the retconned-into-G1 concept of sparks, which is pretty much the only "import" from other continuities into G1 that I like/accept? Well, I have three theories:

1) They don't have sparks. They're just really good drones governed by some AI that Wheeljack created. I don't like this theory. Dinobot cheerleader that I am, I think it makes them "less" than other Transformers and so I will bite viciously, kick hard, and scream at the top of my lungs as I'm dragged off to the loony bin before I will ever accept this theory as "true." :)

2) The theory that's in the Crack!Verse, that the Ark is literally an Ark in the Noah's Ark sense, carrying disembodied sparks in the hope of preventing them from becoming collateral damage in the war. When it was time to create the Dinobots, they used five of them.

3) The theory that will be revealed in this story. Not gonna say what it is, as that would spoil this story when I finish/officially post it. But I'm thinking maybe you'll guess what it is anyway. :)

So, this is a story that's been lurking in the back of my mind for...a while because it's one that allows me to explore a really neat concept that no one, so far as I've seen, has touched on with TF fic. A conversation with jalaperilo  in FF.net PM'ing kind of brought it to the forefront of Ye Olde Brainz again. I wrote some of the story, specifically the end and random bits of the middle, before I got sick. I wrote this that I'm posting now this afternoon/evening. Thing is, the older stuff that I wrote is quite lighthearted in nature; this from today decided to take a turn toward the more serious and even slightly angsty. And the issue, I guess, is that I'm kind of liking the serious, but it won't mesh well with what I already wrote without some scrapping/rewriting. Which I'm totally willing to do, if necessary.

So, I guess I'm looking for some "style" feedback here, since no one but Jalaperilo really knows what's ultimately going to happen in this story. This starts out kind of light because that was the original intent, to make it match what I'd already written. It gets slowly more serious before I cut it off. (There's more to this scene, but I don't want to give too much away yet, in case I change my mind about...stuff. :) ) So I guess I'm wondering if the "transition" feels natural or if it feels forced. And does Wheeljack's reasoning at the end make sense, or does it feel too...I don't know...melodramatic or something? Those are the sorts of questions that are bugging me, and I'm hoping that my helpful readers would be so kind as to give me some feedback. Please be honest. You cannot hurt my feelings, and the whole point of posting this "snippet" (In quotes because, in Word, it's 4.5 pages long. :) ) is for people to tell me honestly if it flows sensibly. Of course, please feel free to comment about whatever you like (or don't like, as the case may be), but flow and making sense is what's nagging at me.

Since I haven't picked at this, it likely contains typos and possibly skipped words, since that's what I do. Feel free to point them out, but those things I usually catch during the "obsessive picking" stage. This story isn't even close to that stage yet. :)

No warnings for this. I don't even think it has any cursing... This bit should be safe for all audiences, although the story in its entirety...might or might not be. ;)

Anyway, thanks for taking a look, if you're so inclined. And thank you in advance for any words of wisdom that you might feel moved to share. :)
